1. The venue SSID is ‘ WholeFoodsMarket ‘and should be found automatically by Windows XP’s wireless configuration utility, or you can manually enter the following configuration into your wireless card’s configuration utility;
Radio Mode = 802.11B or 802.11B/G, RF Mode = infrastructure ; SSID = ‘ WholeFoodsMarket ‘ ; WEP= off ; Channel = 11
2. FIRST, always open your web browser BEFORE your email program or AOL or a VPN client. First Go to any URL, and the system will redirect you to the WholeFoodsMarket Wireless Internet Café’s Welcome page.
3. You must begin a session by clicking-on the “Go Online” button on the left side of the welcome page. You will then be taken to the Whole Food Main Homepage. Now everything should work for you from this point forward. AOL users take note, please start Internet Explorer before logging into AOL.
4. If you keep browsing by just keying in a new URL in the address field, and NOT hitting the “start” or “begin session” button, then the gateway will return you to the welcome page. Only once you click-on or hit the “start” or “begin session” button on the first page you see in your browser, will all other TCP/IP or internet functions such as normal browsing, email, chat, IM, FTP, streaming media, etc. begin to work.
5. If all this fails to get you online, but other people seem around you seem to be online without difficulty, then there is probably an issue with your wireless laptop or PDA. Look below for troubleshooting tips.
1. Be sure your wireless card (PCMCIA or SD socket) is plugged in tightly to the correct slot. You should see a light on the card that indicates a signal lock.
2. With Windows 98 Look for the SSID of the Hotspot in your wireless card's utility program (often an icon in the taskbar), or in Windows XP, go to Network Properties and try “Make New Connection”.
3. Right click on the wireless icon ( two tiny PCs) in the right system tray on your taskbar. Go “View Wireless Connections”. If your utility cannot scan the SSID, WholeFoodsMarket, you may enter the value manually as above.
4. You must have both a signal lock indicator on the card and a network connection using the SSID. If not, the problem lies with your device and its wireless card operation.
5. You must resolve these issues for your device before moving on to the next step.
1. Make sure DHCP is enabled to obtain IP address automatically in the network TCP/IP properties.
2. Instead of a static DNS address, configure to obtain DNS automatically (dynamically). Hit repair in XP connections.
3. In an MS DOS shell, try “ ipconfig /all ”, “ ipconfig /release * ”, and then “ ipconfig /renew * ” ( for winXP ). In an MS DOS shell, try “ ipconfig /all ”, “ ipconfig /release_all ”, and then “ ipconfig /renew_all ” ( for win98 )
4. This Release & Renew will and must assign a new IP number from the DHCP server in the range 192.168.1.X.
5. If you must manually configure DNS, Use 24.93.35.63 and 24.93.35.62 for Time Warner Road Runner
6. If you must manually configure DNS, Use 151.164.20.201 and 151.164.11.201 for SBC-Yahoo DSL
1. Any SMTP outbound mail server setting will automatically be redirected to use smtp-server.austin.rr.com .
2. No authentication is used for our mail server from local Time-Warner Road Runner.
3. If your SMTP outward mail server is set for ‘authentication’, then no mail will go out, turn authentication off.
4. Only email to the normal SMTP port 25 is redirected automatically to smtp-server.austin.rr.com
5. If the ISP you use for mail offers mail via a different port (like 587) you can use that port no. without change.
6. You can manually set the SMTP server for Time Warner Road Runner Austin, as smtp-server.austin.rr.com.
No SSID seen in your client software or no Whole Foods Market Welcome Login Screen: Call tech support below. The Colubris login screen means the broadband connection to Time Warner Road Runner service is down or intermittent.
